A Unique Night at the Museum

At first I was a little reluctant to see Night at the Museum because it just seemed way too out there. However, I was "forced" to go and was surprisingly entertained by this film. Ben Stiller is the star, who plays a night security guard that is struggling to make it in New York City. He is so desperate to keep a job for his son that he takes on this crazy job where the museum comes alive on his watch. I know what your thinking it seems too far fetched that an museum of history's characters can come to life. However, this is sort of the appeal of the movie because I had not seen anything quite like this before. It it just the type of the movie that allows you to dive into a world of imagination like similar to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
You will see Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt who is like the museum hero. Surprisingly Williams is not his crazy, hilarious self in this movie because his character is more the strong, silent type. To me that was a let down because you come to expect this hilarity when he is in any film. Also another great actor in this movie is Owen Wilson who plays Jedidiah the tiny cowboy. This character rocked but he was not in the film nearly enough.
So I guess what I am saying is that if you want to see a true comedy this is not the funniest film out there right now. I mean do not get me wrong there were some side splitting parts to this film like when the cavemen were inhaling the fire extinguisher as if it were ice cream. That was classic! This was more an adventurous or imagination genre that I feel all ages could enjoy. I mean I guess it had to be a pretty good movie since almost the entire packed theatre clapped at the end of the movie. Yea I personally find that a little weird but whatever.

Charlotte's Web is Terrific!

Charlotte's Web based off the children's book that most of us read in school. It is truly a classic book and so at first you would think that a movie would not do it justice. However, the new movie version brings your imagination of the book to life. The movie does not deviate from the book at all and does a great portrayal. The best performance of the movie was by Dakota Fanning who played Fern. During the movie you could really feel the love and passion that Fern felt for her pig, Wilbur. However, whats is more spectacular is the friendship between the spider Charlotte and Wilbur. It is truly amazing when you forget during the movie that we are so inspired by a spider and a pig's closeness. At the end of the movie I noticed there was not a dry eye in the theatre. I mean it was so good I swear I saw this big, muscular man crying like a baby. Bottom line is go see this movie if you love a good story of triumph and friendship.

Pursuit of Happyness

Pursuit of Happyness is one of the best movies I have seen in 06! Will Smith gave an Oscar winning performance by shocking me with his ability to really play an emotional role. He plays a father that is struggling to make it in life. It truly was an inspiring movie that said that you can do anything with drive and determination. Smith puts all his heart in this with his moving performance. So I really recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys heartfelt powerful movies.

Santa Clause 3

There are a lot of great movies out in the theatre right now that seem to be worth spending the extra dough this Christmas. One particular movie I recently saw was Santa Clause 3. Overall, this movie was pretty good because of Tim Allen and Martin Short. The two in any movie together leads to a recipe for great comedy. It was definitely better than the second one but the original Santa Clause still is the best in my opinion. The kids will be sure to love it and parents can enjoy it as well.
